Welcome to Slow Down

Slow Down is a music practice tool designed to help musicians learn and practice music more effectively. By using our service, you agree to these terms. We've tried to keep them simple and fair.

Your Privacy & Data

We take your privacy seriously:

  • We do not sell your data. Your information is never sold to third parties.
  • Google Account: We use Google OAuth solely for authentication (signing you in). We only access your basic profile information (name, email, profile picture).
  • YouTube API: We use YouTube's API to embed and search for videos. We comply with YouTube's Terms of Service.
  • Your Content: Videos you add, markers you create, and practice data you generate belong to you.

User Conduct

When using Slow Down, you agree to:

  • Use the service for its intended purpose: learning and practicing music
  • Not post inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
  • Respect other users and their content
  • Not attempt to abuse, hack, or disrupt the service

Ownership of Service

Slow Down, including its design, code, logos, and all related intellectual property, is owned by Theo Wecker. Nothing in these terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the service itself, other than the limited right to use it in accordance with these terms.

Copyright & Intellectual Property

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to upload, share, or distribute any content you make publicly available through Slow Down.

By uploading audio files or other content and making them public, you represent and warrant that:

  • You own the content, or have obtained all necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize Slow Down to display the content
  • The content does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or other intellectual property rights of any third party
  • You have the written consent, release, and/or permission of each identifiable person in the content (if applicable)

Do not upload or share copyrighted music, recordings, or other protected content unless you have explicit permission from the copyright holder. This includes, but is not limited to, commercial recordings, samples, stems, or any audio you do not have the rights to distribute.

DMCA & Copyright Infringement: We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), we will respond to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement. If you believe your copyrighted work has been copied and is accessible on Slow Down in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please contact us with a DMCA takedown notice at theo@theowecker.com.

Consequences of Infringement: Users who repeatedly infringe copyrights may have their accounts terminated. We reserve the right to remove any content that we believe, in our sole discretion, infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others, without prior notice.

Content Moderation

We reserve the right to remove any content (including comments, public videos, or playlists) at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to content that is inappropriate, offensive, spam, or violates these terms. Users who repeatedly violate these terms may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

Service Availability

We strive to keep Slow Down available and running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

Subscriptions & Payments

Supporter subscriptions are processed through Stripe. You can cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. All features are currently available to free users - subscriptions help support ongoing development.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Slow Down and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the service.

User-Uploaded Content: We do not monitor, verify, or endorse user-uploaded content. We are not responsible for any claims, damages, or legal action arising from content uploaded by users, including but not limited to copyright infringement claims. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Slow Down and its creators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from your use of the service or your violation of these terms, including any third-party claims related to content you upload or share.

Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Slow Down. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible.

Third-Party Services

Slow Down integrates with third-party services including YouTube (for video content), Google (for authentication), and Stripe (for payment processing). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or policies of these third-party services. By using Slow Down, you also agree to comply with the YouTube Terms of Service.

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the service at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease. You may also delete your account at any time through your profile settings.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SERVICE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Colorado for the resolution of any disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of the service.

Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution: Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to first contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally by sending a written notice describing the dispute to theo@theowecker.com. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 30 days of receiving your notice.

Class Action Waiver: TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AND SLOW DOWN EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION, COLLECTIVE ACTION, OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify users through the app. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

General Provisions

Severability: If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement: These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Slow Down regarding your use of the service and supersede any prior agreements.

No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms shall not be considered a waiver of that right or provision. The waiver of any such right or provision will be effective only if in writing and signed by us.

Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these terms without restriction.
